Lynn El-Roeiy

MA, MSW, LMSW
Psychotherapist &
Mental Performance Coach

I am a licensed, master's-level psychotherapist and mental performance coach in New York, NY. I specialize in counseling patients who deal with grief, anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, anger outbursts and oppositional defiance issues, and stage of life transitions.

I have a warm, open, and personalized approach to clients that makes them feel safe and able to express themselves during sessions. I believe that every problem has a solution and focus on helping people unlock their own ability to overcome challenges.

As a life coach, I am being trained to help clients realize their greatest dreams, thrive in any environment, and manifest the life of which they both dream and deserve. I have worked with clients ranging from C-Suite level executives to stay-at-home parents to develop attainable goals and transform them into a reality.

Individual Therapy

I focus on individual psychotherapy for adults and have extensive training in clinical interventions such as active listening, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic education, and problem solving therapy. I hold a bachelor's degree in creative writing, a master's degree in communication, culture and technology, a master's degree in social work, and two graduate-level certifications in addiction and substance abuse in social work and advanced clinical social work practice.

I am trained in using cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors. I employ clinical techniques such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, problem-solving, relaxation and breathing techniques, and social skills training to help people improve their mood and boost emotional regulation. Other applications might include socratic questioning, role-playing, and homework assignments to practice and apply CBT outside of sessions.

Life Coaching

Mental Performance Coaching involves exploring thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to improve well-being and foster personal growth. You will develop self-confidence, accountability, goal setting skills, self-awareness, and build better relationships.

Lynn's Approach

"The more we trust, the farther

we are able to venture."

- Esther Perel

I do not expect my clients to give my their trust, I expect to earn it. Trusting someone with your mental health is a sensitive and often difficult experience, so I work hard to ensure my clients have faith in my ability to help them succeed and prioritize their needs.

My approach to counseling and coaching is rooted in how I have overcome my own struggles with anxiety, depression, self-doubt, isolation, grief, and loss. I have an indefatigable sense of empathy for my patients, as I have dealt with similar issues and understand what it is like to grapple with both longterm challenges and moments of crisis.

I know firsthand that experience is one of life's greatest, and toughest, teachers. However, I also believe that everyone is capable of healing, recovery, growth, satisfaction, and discovery in life. I look at every client experience as a shared journey and feel that my clients are my greatest source of pride, joy, and fulfillment in life.

"I first met Lynn when I first moved to NYC and was struggling to find a support system and feel comfortable
in a new city. She is very understanding
